Ultrasound referrals

An ultrasound gives you the detailed information a pregnancy test cannot. We offer on-site referrals for free ultrasounds by licensed medical providers, so you can know for sure if you are pregnant and learn more about your pregnancy before making a decision. Medical providers offer same-day appointments, so contact us today for a referral.

Why ultrasound matters

About 1 in 5 known pregnancies end in miscarriage. An ultrasound shows whether there is a heartbeat, how far along you are (gestational age), and where the pregnancy is located. Knowing all three matters before any decision about prenatal care or termination.

How a referral works

After a positive pregnancy test, we refer for a free ultrasound by licensed medical providers. There is no cost from us, and we walk you through what to expect at the appointment.

What an ultrasound cannot do

An ultrasound is not a recommendation about what to do. It is a piece of information. We will help you make sense of what it shows and what questions to ask your medical provider.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions about ultrasound referrals

Do you perform ultrasounds at your center?

We offer on-site referrals for free ultrasounds by licensed medical providers, so you can know for sure if you are pregnant and learn more about your pregnancy before making a decision. Medical providers offer same-day appointments, so contact us today for a referral.

Why is an ultrasound important after a positive pregnancy test?

Three things matter before any decision: whether there is a heartbeat, gestational age (how far along), and location (intrauterine vs. ectopic). A pregnancy test alone cannot tell you any of these.

How much does the ultrasound cost?

Our referral is free, and the on-site ultrasound itself is also free. It is provided by licensed medical providers at no cost to you.

How soon after a positive test should I get an ultrasound?

Generally between 6 and 8 weeks of pregnancy, when a heartbeat can be detected. If you are unsure how far along you are, schedule a free pregnancy consultation with us first.

What is an ectopic pregnancy and why is it serious?

An ectopic pregnancy occurs when the embryo implants outside the uterus, most often in a fallopian tube. It is a medical emergency. An ultrasound is the most reliable way to rule it out.
