STI Information & Referrals

If you think you may have been exposed to a sexually transmitted infection, getting tested early is the most useful thing you can do. We provide clear information and connect you to licensed local providers for testing and treatment.

Common questions we hear

People often ask us: Does my partner need to be tested too? Can I be tested without a parent knowing? How long does it take for an infection to show up on a test? What does treatment look like? We can help you think these through and point you to the right place.

Where to get tested

Massachusetts has a network of licensed clinics that offer free or low-cost STI testing. We refer locally to providers in Haverhill, Lawrence, Lowell, and the broader Merrimack Valley.

Common questions

Frequently asked questions about sti information & referrals

Do you test for STIs at your center?

No. We do not perform STI tests on-site. We provide referrals to licensed clinics in the Merrimack Valley that offer free or low-cost testing.

How long does it take for an STI to show up on a test?

It depends on the infection. Some show up in days, others take weeks. We can talk through the right timing based on what you may have been exposed to and connect you with a provider.

Can I get tested without a parent knowing?

In Massachusetts, minors can consent to STI testing and treatment without parental notification. We can explain how this works in your specific situation.

Is the conversation confidential?

Yes. Anything you share with us stays between you and our team. We do not share information without your permission.

What if I test positive?

Most STIs are treatable, and many are fully curable with antibiotics. We can connect you with a licensed provider who will walk you through treatment options.
